Expert Witness Reports
Expert Witness Fees. Clear, fixed and no VAT.
Chartered building consultant, over 40 years in construction, preparing CPR Part 35 reports for defendants, claimants and as single joint expert. Fees are agreed before work starts, so there are no surprises for your costs budget. Reports are issued within two weeks of inspection, sooner if needed.

Building Surveys
Minimum fee £700 for a new instruction. Extra items on the same instruction are charged at the rates shown.
Note: Fees depend on the size, type and location of the property and the purchase price. Use the calculator below for an estimate, then complete the request for estimate form for a fixed fee, or call to make an enquiry. Larger, period and complex properties are quoted individually.

Party Wall Matters
Minimum fee £700 for a new instruction. Extra items on the same instruction are charged at the rates shown. Hourly rate £185.
Party wall surveyors usually charge by the hour. We know clients prefer price certainty, so we give a fixed fee wherever we can. As a guide:
- Serving notices: £250 to £400 per notice
- Schedule of condition: £400 to £580
- Party wall award, straightforward: £700 to £1,200
- Party wall award, complex or more than one adjoining owner: £1,200 to £2,500 plus
If you are an adjoining owner, the building owner normally pays our fee, and we agree that in writing before we start.

TERMS
Payment within 14 days of invoice unless otherwise agreed. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts. The invoice for a party wall award includes the final inspection and is issued with the award.
Access Agreements
Minimum fee £700 for a new instruction. Extra items on the same instruction are charged at the rates shown. Hourly rate £185.
- Acting for an adjoining owner on a scaffold, crane or hoarding licence: fixed fee £700 to £1,200, paid by the developer on signing the licence and agreed in writing before we start. Anything beyond the agreed scope, such as damage, extensions or breaches, is charged at £185 an hour.
- Acting for a building owner or developer to obtain consents: time based at £185 an hour, with an estimate given once we have seen the drawings.
- Checking a draft licence prepared by others: fixed fee agreed before we read it.

Building Defect Diagnosis
Minimum fee £700 for a new instruction. Extra items on the same instruction are charged at the rates shown. Most single defect reports, for example damp, cracking or a roof leak, are £700 to £900. Larger properties, more than one main defect, or a report needed for a claim or a court are quoted individually, typically £900 to £1,200. No VAT is added.
